Through time, hundreds of works have been exhibited in Den Frie’s galleries. Historically, the rooms contain all these different times, practices, artists, thoughts and themes. Although immediately invisible, they are part of defining Den Frie today. With this year’s exhibition, Den Frie Udstilling takes a deep-dive into its own history. This becomes visible through backdrops of reconstructions of previous works and hangings, on which the works of today are exhibited on, above and next to. The exhibition is curated by Yvette Brackman, Simon Starling and Ulrik Heltoft, and the exhibition includes documentation of Den Frie’s exhibition history in both scenography and work production.
