Selected Works Festival is back live with audiences after last year’s online festival during the lockdown of winter 2021. This is the seventh time that the festival will be presenting the latest trends in the independent field throughout Denmark, and for the first time, performances will take place in both Copenhagen and Aarhus.
For this edition the curatorial team is consisting of performer and actor Marina Popovic (NO), artistic director, curator and performance artist Andreas Constantinou (DK/IE/CY/UK) and playwright and dramaturgist Gritt Uldall-Jessen. In their selection they have chosen to focus on works that display humour and energy, celebrate diversity, and break taboos by showing them.
At Den Frie you will be able to experience Beck Heiberg and Charlie Laban Triers’ three-hour performance installation Digging a Glittering Grave, in which cuteness is used as a contract to and a way of dealing with ‘heavy issues’, such as the misrepresentation of trans-masculine people in pop culture. You can also see Helene Kvint’s performance The Show Must Go On! about a female actor’s personal #metoo experience, framed in the form of a tempestuous, funny and touching stand-up show.
You can read more about the performances and buy tickets via the Selected Works Festival homepage: https://www.detfriefeltsfestival.dk/
