RE(W)RITE! is a participatory performance installation presented by Cantabile 2 in a collaboration with Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art.
RE(W)RITE! invites the audience on a personal journey of discovery in an immersive ritual universe, an interactive meeting space, where small groups of participants are initiated into existential experiences through real, sensual, and intimate encounters between people – an aspect that has been sorely missed due to the pandemic.
RE(W)RITE! is a transformative performance installation, a Temple for our Time, that has been developed specifically for the exhibition spaces at Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art in Copenhagen. A predetermined schedule comprising rituals of varied length welcomes audiences at different times of the day; for each time, at a higher level of intimacy and participation. Guests will be attending both as observers and participants at various levels of ritual acts and innovations. The interaction design is structured in such a way that it enables the audience to advance to higher levels and reach deeper layers within the performance. Each participation is a personal journey, even though most rituals are collective. You can gain access to increasingly advanced ritual ceremonies, and at the highest level it is possible to be admitted into the work and thus reside in RE(W)RITE!
Access will be granted daily at different times, and each day will have a new structure as the rituals develop through the interaction between audience and performers during the period of the performance.
Each performance is a unique composition of contemporary rituals, created by 23 international performers directed by Nullo Facchini. Some of the rituals are produced in an artistic collaboration with Effetto Larsen, Italy, and Elephants Laugh, South Korea.
RE(W)RITE! has 12 performers and up to 40 different rituals in total. Each visit will last around 2.5 hours, during which you will experience 3-4 rituals. There will also be morning rituals lasting around 1.5 hours.
On April 1st, the final program with themes and hours will be announced. On the same day, ticket sales will open on billetten.dk. It is now possible to buy gift cards for the performance and thereby reserve a number of tickets in advance.
The performance is also part of the program for CPH Stage 27th of May to 5th of June 2021. It has been selected as a showcase during the International Days from 2nd to 4th of June.
Expected duration: Between 1 ½ and 2 ½ hours per visit. Feel free to revisit the performance-installation again and again and get a new experience each time.
Tickets: The ticket sales opens 1st April at billetten.dk
